What is the best Manatal alternative for a recruitment agency?
For agencies that want sourcing, AI scoring, outreach and the ATS and CRM in one workspace, with data processed in Europe, Mainder is our pick. The closest like-for-like switch is Recruit CRM. Staffing firms with timesheets and back office should look at Bullhorn or Vincere, executive search firms at Loxo, agencies in the UK and Australia at JobAdder, and teams already on Zoho at Zoho Recruit.
Manatal is a good product, and for some agencies it is still the right one: see when to stay, below. This guide is written by Mai for Mainder, so Mainder comes first. Every statement about the other tools comes from the vendor's own website, help center or legal pages, checked on 17 October 2026. We left out prices, which change often.

Why agencies look for a Manatal alternative
Most of the reasons are in Manatal's own documentation, and they have more to do with data than with features.
The first is where the data lives. Manatal's security page says "All customer data is stored in the USA." An agency in Europe that processes candidates under the GDPR then depends on international transfers for every CV in its database, and the question tends to come up in a client's security questionnaire.
The second is getting the data out. Bulk export "can only be done by an Admin" and "is not enabled by default", according to Manatal's help center, and it exports one data set at a time. The Open API is enabled on the Enterprise Plus plan, the same plan that carries SSO, so connecting a reporting tool or a warehouse means moving to Enterprise Plus, which is also the only plan with Zapier, n8n and the MCP Server.
Two more come up less often. Client management "is only available for companies running the Recruitment Agency version of Manatal", as its client guide explains, so an account set up as a company has no CRM. And Manatal's AI recommendations rank the candidates already in your database. To find new ones it offers job boards, its Chrome extension, which outside LinkedIn only creates candidates, and a Sourcing Hub with an external database, searched with monthly credits.
None of this is a flaw for every agency. It becomes one when you place candidates for European clients, want your data in another tool or want sourcing that runs without someone launching each search.
When to stay on Manatal
Stay if your clients and candidates are outside Europe, your database already covers most of your roles and your team is happy with the workflow. Manatal includes implementation and data migration support on every listed plan, run by its own migration team. It gives clients access to a Guest Portal, which it describes as "completely free" for hiring managers. Its AI scoring explains, requirement by requirement, whether a candidate meets each criterion. And it states that "all final recruitment decisions remain your sole responsibility", which is the right default for AI in hiring. For a feature-by-feature view, see Mainder vs Manatal.
Mainder: sourcing, AI and the agency workspace in one place
Mainder is an AI recruitment platform for agencies. Clients, candidates, jobs, sourcing and invoicing live in the same workspace, from the first client call to the final invoice, and the ATS and CRM are modules included from Starter. What you pay for is finding candidates, not storing the ones you already have.
The main difference from Manatal is that sourcing runs on its own. AI Hunt sources for each open role around the clock across the open web, and People Finder lets you describe a profile in plain language and search beyond your database. AI Scoring ranks every candidate against the same criteria and explains each score. The strongest candidates can go to an AI screening interview by video or chat, and outreach runs over LinkedIn, email and WhatsApp from a single sequence, with every reply in one inbox.
On data, Mainder processes everything on European infrastructure in Ireland and London, holds ISO 27001:2022 and never uses your data to train AI models. AI is advisory: critical hiring decisions need a person to validate them. Mainder does not have a SOC 2 report, so if a client requires one, ask before you switch. The API and SSO are on the Enterprise plan. Moving from Manatal is planned with each team during onboarding, and the searches you already have open can finish where they are. More than 300 recruiting teams use Mainder.
Recruit CRM
Recruit CRM describes itself as an "AI-powered ATS & CRM for recruitment firms", and it is the closest thing to Manatal on this list. It covers candidates, companies, contacts and deal pipelines on every plan, along with invoicing, and adds timesheets, contractor billing and contractor pay for contract staffing.
Its AI comes as ARC, a set of agents that take notes on calls, update records, format CVs, package submissions and draft candidate pitches. Recruit CRM's line is "ARC prepares, you approve". It hosts on AWS and lists its location as "United States (+ EU regions)", and it states annual SOC 2 Type II audits and ISO 27001:2022 alignment. It offers a 30-day free trial. Its CSV import is free and assisted migration is paid.
Loxo
Loxo is built for direct hire, executive search and staffing firms. It combines an ATS, a recruiting CRM and a sales CRM with a built-in people database.
Its AI agents build longlists and shortlists from that database, write job descriptions, find contact details and draft submittals. Loxo states that "no candidate is ever contacted, advanced, or rejected by an AI agent acting alone". It holds SOC 2 Type II, but its legal pages do not say in which regions data is hosted. The trial lasts 7 days with no credit card, and migration is free for Core teams of three or more seats.
Bullhorn
Bullhorn describes itself as the ATS and CRM "powering 10,000+ staffing agencies", and much of its value is beyond the front office. In North America it extends to middle and back office: timesheets, payroll and financial reporting.
Its AI layer, Amplify, runs digital workers for screening, outreach, research and matching, and can ask qualification and knockout questions around the clock without a recruiter. Bullhorn signed the EU AI Pact and states that "the ultimate decision rests with the user". It does not offer a free trial. Implementation is free on its Starter, Core and Pro tiers for small agencies.
Vincere
Vincere is now sold as Access Vincere Evo, part of The Access Group. It combines an ATS and CRM for permanent, contract and temp recruitment, with TimeTemp for timesheets and Vincere Portals, where clients can review jobs, shortlist candidates, approve timesheets and manage invoices.
Its Copilot scores candidates from one to five stars with strengths, gaps and interview questions, and higher plans add AI agents for routine admin. Vincere lists AWS data centres in London, Frankfurt, Virginia, Singapore and Sydney. Its help center says API keys are only issued to partners with a formal agreement, and admins can export up to 5,000 records per CSV, with scheduled exports by download, SFTP or email. There is no free trial of the core product: you book a demo.
JobAdder
JobAdder is "the intelligent recruitment platform for growing agencies". It is based in Sydney and owned by SEEK. It covers the ATS, a recruitment CRM with a business development pipeline, a client portal and job posting to more than 200 job sites, with two-way integrations with LinkedIn (licence required) and, in Australia and New Zealand, SEEK.
Adder Intelligence writes candidate summaries, gives a relevancy rating on every applicant and drafts job ads. JobAdder says it applied the principles of the EU AI Act and that "a human must always be the final decision maker". It stores the core account data of UK and EMEA customers in Ireland and holds ISO 27001:2022. It does not offer a free trial, pricing is by proposal, and payroll and billing run through partner integrations.
Zoho Recruit
Zoho Recruit has a Staffing Agency edition, built for firms that manage multiple clients and candidates, next to its Corporate HR edition. It includes client records and submissions on every plan, and client and vendor portals on Enterprise.
Zia, Zoho's own language model, matches candidates and jobs and summarises profiles, and AI Assist drafts job descriptions. Zoho says it does not use private customer data to train its models. Zoho picks the data centre from where you sign up, its EU data centre is in Amsterdam and Dublin, and Zoho holds ISO 27001 and SOC 2 Type 2. The trial lasts 15 days and then moves to a free plan. Assisted migration is priced separately.
What to check before you leave Manatal
Start with the data, because it takes the longest. Ask Manatal support to enable bulk export, then export candidates, jobs, clients and the other data sets it offers, one at a time, as CSV or XLS. Check that notes, attachments and pipeline stages come with them, and do it before your renewal date.
Then ask each vendor on your shortlist four questions. Where will our data be stored, and can we choose the region? Who runs the migration, and what does it include? Which plan includes the API? And what does the AI do on its own, without a person approving it? Under the EU AI Act, AI that filters applications and evaluates candidates is high-risk, and from 2 December 2027, as the agency using it, you have your own duties as a deployer, whatever the vendor certifies.
Finally, test on a role you closed recently: see whether the people you placed come out near the top, and read why the tool ranks some candidates differently from you. To see who Mainder finds outside your database for that role, book a demo.
